Tulsi Vivah 2023

Many people believe that a home where Tulsi ji is worshipped every day is shielded from poverty. There’s a belief that those who witness the sacred union of Tulsi Mata and Shaligram Ji, a manifestation of Lord Vishnu, during the special occasion of Devuthani Ekadashi, will always experience happiness and prosperity in their family.

Tulsi Vivah is a meaningful ceremony in Hindu tradition, celebrating the sacred union between the revered Tulsi plant and Lord Shaligram. In homes across the country, the Tulsi plant carries deep significance. Following tradition, the women of the family water the Tulsi plant in the morning and light a diya with incense in the evening. This ritual is believed to ward off negativity from their lives. During Tulsi Vivah, the joyous connection between the Tulsi plant and Lord Shaligram is commemorated, symbolizing the pursuit of marital happiness and enduring well-being.

Subh Puja Muhurat

The ideal time for the Tulsi Vivah Puja is during the Dwadashi tithi of the Kartik month, starting at 09:01 pm on November 23 and concluding on November 24 at 07:06 pm. For the most auspicious ceremony, it’s recommended to perform the marriage of Tulsi and Shaligram on November 24. On this day, the Pradosh Kaal is expected to be from 05:25 pm to 06:04 pm.

Rituals

To begin the celebration of Tulsi Vivah, start your day by waking up early and taking a refreshing bath. Afterward, purify the sacred space by sprinkling Ganga water. Next, set up two wooden posts and place a red-colored seat on them. Take a Kalash, fill it with Ganga water, and add five mango leaves; position it at the worship area. On one side, place a Tulsi plant, and on the other side, install the revered Shaligram ji. This sets the stage for a blessed and harmonious Tulsi Vivah ceremony.

Next, gently apply ocher to the Tulsi pot and kindle a ghee lamp in its presence. Sprinkle pure Ganga water over both Tulsi and Shaligram, and delicately apply Roli or sandalwood tilak on them. Create a charming pavilion around the Tulsi pot using sugarcane. Adorn Tulsi Mata with care, draping her in a vibrant red chunari. Holding Shaligram ji and the post, lovingly encircle Tulsi ji seven times. Conclude the ceremony with a heartfelt Aarti, expressing your wishes for the happiness and prosperity of your family to Tulsi Mata. Finally, share the blessings by distributing Prasad among all present.
